Manchester United midfielder Nemanja Matic taken off injured against Watford with fans fearing he could miss Arsenal
MANCHESTER UNITED have had an injury scare days before their Arsenal clash after Nemanja Matic was pulled off against Watford.
The Serbian midfielder could be seen limping off the pitch slowly with a grimace on his face 55 minutes into the 4-2 win at Vicarage Road.

Jose Mourinho was clearly worried about the midfield enforcer after full-time.
He said: “For Matic to tell me he wants to be replaced, he does not do that if it is nothing important.”
The Portuguese also confirmed the injury was a “muscular” one.
Matic limped off with the club cruising and 3-0 up after a blistering first-half display.

But Watford managed to pull two goals back before a stunning Jesse Lingard goal sealed the three points.
Ashley Young scored twice with a sublime and shot and even better free kick against his former club.
Anthony Martial then made it three to for United’s best-scoring first-half performance for a year.
But if Nemanja Matic is injured it will put a downer on a otherwise brilliant night for the Red Devils.

Tottenham boss Mauricio Pochettino fuming with referee Mike Jones for allowing West Brom to time waste
MAURICIO POCHETTINO will not rush to answer his phone if he gets another call from apologetic referees’ chiefs this week.
The Spurs boss was again left fuming over the performance of the match officials after conceding defeat in the title race.

Last week he was adamant that both Arsenal goals should have been disallowed in his team’s defeat in the North London derby.
This time he was stewing over ref Mike Jones’ failure to get to grips with West Brom’s delaying tactics which left Wembley infuriated.
Pochettino revealed: “I spoke last week with the referees’ people that called us to explain that, yes it was offside against Arsenal, yes, it was a foul, blah, blah, blah.
“But in the end it changed nothing and after that I promised that I would never again speak in public about the referee. He needs to do his job and I will do mine.”

Yet if Pochettino was keeping his thoughts to himself, Spurs defender Eric Dier was happy to share his frustration with the world. He received a 58th-minute caution for complaining to Jones about Albion keeper Ben Foster’s time-wasting.
And it was another 25 minutes before Foster finally followed him into Jones’ notebook after pushing his luck a little too far.
BATTLE SCARRED Huddersfield 1 Man City 2: Raheem Sterling nets late winner as City survive scareDier insisted: “The referee said he didn’t want to be the first one who blows the whistle for a keeper holding the ball for longer than six seconds because no one else does.
“But if you watch the game from the first minute and add up the amount of time wasted by their keeper, it would be a big number.
“He was holding the ball for a lot longer than six seconds and it makes no sense for the referee to wait until the final few minutes to show him a yellow card.”

Spurs skipper Hugo Lloris knew exactly what Foster was up to and said: “It’s a part of the game for a keeper to slow things down, but not after ten minutes.
“It’s up to the referee to make the players understand you cannot do that all game and if you give a yellow card after 35 minutes he won’t do it again in the second half.
“But if the referee says nothing, then the keeper will keep doing it. That is what happened.”
A grinning Foster joked with Spurs players as he left Wembley and told them: “What time-wasting? I wasn’t doing anything wrong. Well, maybe a little bit . . . ”

Yet Albion’s go- slow was not the reason Spurs have taken just four points from their last four Premier League games.
Break the news gently to Spurs fans, but there is a real danger that their team are turning into Arsenal as they struggle to cling on to their place in the top four.
Just as in previous home games against Burnley and Swansea, they totally dominated possession against opponents with no interest in taking them on.
Yet despite being camped on the edge of West Brom’s penalty area all afternoon, they conceded a soft early goal and were guilty of trying to walk the ball into the net until Harry Kane finally got on the end of Dele Alli’s 74th-minute cross to level from close range.
Dier insisted: “Drawing a game is never positive, especially at home.
“Certain teams come to Wembley just to make it difficult and pretty much play in their own penalty area.
“But we have to entertain the fans and we are really disappointed that we couldn’t win.”
Asked whether he had a grudging admiration for Albion’s approach, an appalled Pochettino snapped: “No.
“I’m not in charge of the way the other team decides to play but if we had scored a second goal today I think the question about their tactics would be very different.”
Yet Lloris knows that Spurs must find an immediate solution to their Wembley problem if they are going to remain in the hunt to finish runners-up to runaway leaders Manchester City.
He said: “It’s completely different to White Hart Lane so we have to deal with the stadium and find a solution to increase the level of the atmosphere.

“But I do not want to find fake excuses for disappointing results.
“We need to stay positive and find a solution together.
“When you play against a team who stays very deep, you need to pin them in the box and try to get free-kicks or penalties to put more pressure on them.
“You have to respect the game and not cheat. But if you are more aggressive in the box it’s more difficult for the opponent.
“It’s about intensity and energy. That’s what we need a little bit.”

MIDDLESBROUGH boss Garry Monk will want to get back to winning ways after losing 2-1 to his old side, Leeds on Sunday.

THIS match takes place on Wednesday, November 22.
The game will be held at the Riverside Stadium.
Kick-off is at 7.45pm.
UNFORTUNATELY, the game will not be shown live in the UK.
You can join us here on SunSport for our live updates from all the Championship games from around the country.

Hosts Middlesbrough are expected to name an unchanged side, despite the defeat over the weekend.
The side currently sit in the play-off positions but only on goal difference and Monk will want to get back to winning games after a disappointing performance.
Marcus Tavernier was substituted after 56 minutes at Elland Road following a challenge from Pontus Jansson but is expected to be available.
There are no new suspension concerns for Monk.
Despite an excellent performance, Birmingham goalkeeper Tomasz Kuszczak will be hoping to see less of the ball during their midweek clash.
After Che Adams scored in the first five minutes against Notts Forest, the Blues shot-stopper saw more of the ball than he would have liked as he made sure his side kept a clean sheet in their first win in five games.
David Davis is one yellow card away from suspension, but manager Steve Cotterill has no fresh injury concerns.

The unbearable shame of Italian soccer fans

By Catherine McIntyre
Rocco Mastrangelo typically likes to mingle among his patrons in Cafe Diplomatico, a Little Italy sports bar in Toronto that his father opened in 1968. But during overtime in last year’s Euro final between Germany and Italy, he and his wife Connie retreated to the restaurant’s office to kneel and pray between nail biting penalty kicks. "The crowd was so in pain. It was like a funeral out there," says Mastrangelo. "Monday was the same."
Once a quadrennial, soccer enthusiasts spill onto the streets outside overflowing sports bars across Canada like Cafe Diplomatico. Chief among them are throngs of blue-clad fans sporting the distinct Azzurri soccer jersey—a symbol of pride for Italians everywhere thanks to the team’s impressive record. Italy has won four of 20 World Cup tournaments, they’ve been in six final matches, and qualified for nearly every tournament in history. But come next summer when the tournament takes place in Russia, those crowds will have the unusual experience of feeling more blue than their shirts.
Italy’s loss to Sweden on Monday marked the first time in 60 years the team didn’t qualify for the FIFA World Cup and, news flash, fans are not pleased. Reactions to the historic defeat ranged from sombre reflection to bitter outrage to all-out catastrophization. "Italy, this is the apocalypse," one prominent Italian sports paper declared on Tuesday morning’s front page. Another newspaper called it a "national shame." One fan told the Guardian, "This match mirrors our country, which is falling apart."
Certainly, fans of European football are an impassioned lot, and many countries put a lot of stock in how their team represents them on that particular world stage. There’s a sense that a nation’s World Cup performance sets the tone for the collective cultural and social identity—their national pride ebbing and flowing in four year cycles with the success of their team.
Brazil’s lopsided 7-1 home-turf loss to Germany in the last World Cup, for instance, was deemed a "humiliation," a "historic disaster" by local newspapers that showcased portraits of wailing fans. France’s poor performance in the 2010 World Cup—both in behaviour and athletic showing—was widely considered a national disgrace. In a meeting hours before France played its fateful match, the country’s sports minister, Roselyne Bachelot, reportedly berated the team, calling their performance a "moral disaster" and bringing some players to tears. Perhaps the most tragic example of extreme reactions to FIFA defeat is the 1994 murder of Andres Escobar, a Colombian player who scored on his own team during the 1993 World Cup—a mistake that later cost him his life.
In Canada, home to 1.6 million people of Italian descent, the disappointment around the Azzuri’s loss, while perhaps not murderous, is just as real. "It’s a disgrace," says Rocco Curatolo, a Winnipeg-based barber who moved from Italy to Canada in 1960. "The coach should have been fired a long time ago," he snaps. "There’s too much politics involved," Joe chimes in, a friend of Curatolo’s who stopped by the barber shop to shoot the breeze and ruminate over the defeat. "It’s going to be a loss of pride [for our community]," Curatolo adds.
For Cafe Diplomatico—which was packed on Monday and opened its patio in single-digit temperatures for the heartbreaking match—the next World Cup will be the first in the restaurant’s history without team Italia. "It’s crazy to think about it like that," says Connie Mastrangelo. "We have a lot of personal friends and family that come down for the Italian games, which always makes it a little more lively crowd," she says. "We’ll miss that this [coming tournament]."
Not to mention, the restaurant’s sales typically soar about 50 per cent during World Cup months. Asked whether Italy’s absence next summer will hurt that generous revenue bump, the Mastrangelos were not especially dismayed. When they took over the business from Rocco’s father 20 years ago, they made a point of appealing to all soccer fans; not just Italian ones. "Our tagline is ‘Where Nations Unite,’ " says Rocco. Indeed, it didn’t hurt the business when Italy got knocked out in the first round last World Cup, he adds. "For the final game, Germany and Argentina, we closed out the street and added an additional 320 seats. You couldn’t find a spot in the restaurant."
Even Italy fans are not likely to sit out this World Cup, even if they leave their jerseys at home. "It doesn’t matter," says Curatolo in his thick Italian accent. "I still have heart for the ball."
Rocco Mastrangelo is in the same boat, but don’t expect him to be wearing his Azzuri shirt or praying between penalty shots. "I’ll watch, for sure," he says. "But my team is Italy, so I’m not going to be, let’s say, very passionate about cheering on another team."

Daniele De Rossi proves his absolute class with sportsmanlike gesture to Sweden after final whistle
It’s been a few days but we’re still struggling to comprehend a World Cup without the Italians.
The Azzurri are set to miss the prestigious tournament for the first time since 1958 after a 1-0 loss on aggregate to Sweden.

The second leg at the San Siro was an emotionally charged affair.
An electric atmosphere was present right from the off when the partisan home crowd fiercely booed the Swedish national anthem before the Italian players belted out Il Canto degli Italiani like it’s never been sung before.

The resilient Swedes frustrated their hosts and, with Italy needing desperately needing a goal, Gian Piero Ventura inexplicably called upon the services of Daniele De Rossi rather than Lorenzo Insigne.
The combative midfielder was seen protesting about the tactical decision, allegedly yelling: “Why the hell should I go on? We don’t need to draw here, we need to win!”

A 0-0 draw on the night meant heartbreak for De Rossi and company.
The Roma legend joined Gianluigi Buffon, Andrea Barzagli and Giorgio Chiellini in announcing his retirement from international football.
Even in the mire of one of his career’s lowest moments, De Rossi exhibited his class.
The 34-year-old visited Sweden’s team bus after the final whistle to congratulate them on their win and to wish them luck in Russia.
He is also said to have apologised for the booing of their anthem.

Leeds centre-back Pontus Jansson told the Expressen: “He apologised for how some of the players behaved during the match in Stockholm and because some fans booed our national anthem during the return.”
“The whole atmosphere of the bus was like: ‘Wow, did this happen?’ It was one of the finest moments in a long time, actually.
“What a damn gentleman. A really nice person and a true team captain”
Daniele De Rossi, you are a credit to your country.
True legends are found in defeat, not victory.

Who is Nicola Mclean? Glamour model, CBB star and wife of Tom Williams and what are the David Van Day allegations?
NICOLA McLean has racked up many reality appearances.
Here’s everything you need to know about the glamour model and reality star…

Nicola was born in London to Scottish parents in 1981 and has one sister. She later moved to Peterborough.
The stunning blonde rose to fame after modelling for The Sun’s page 3 in the 90s, and appeared in the paper regularly between September 1999 and July 2004.
After giving birth to her first child in 2006, Nicola ‘retired’ from modelling.
She came fourth in a poll for the ‘best page 3 girl of all time’, beating the likes of Samantha Fox and Katie Price – with whom Nicola has a tense rivalry.
Nicola is an avid supporter of animal charity PETA and protested against Selfridges’ ‘cruel’ use of foie gras in the capital in 2009.

Nicola is married to footballer Tom Williams, who previously played for teams including West Ham, Queens Park Rangers (QPR) and Swansea City.
In 2016, he signed with Arizona United with the United Soccer League, and he also has one international cap with Cyprus – his mum’s home country.
The couple married in 2009 and together have two kids, Rocky, 11, and Striker, seven.
However, the couple briefly split after he cheated on her in a Las Vegas nightclub in 2014 and was filmed getting much too close with a brunette.
The busty babe was very outspoken about her decision, slamming Tom and claiming he would never ‘get anyone better’ than her.
But the couple reunited in summer 2015 after he re-earned her trust.
Nicola and Tom are currently planning on renewing their wedding vows.
The couple celebrated their eighth wedding anniversary on Tuesday June 13 and Nicola marked the occasion by Instagramming: “Happy anniversary to my @tomwilliams3.
“You might not be perfect but your perfect to me #8years [sic].”

Nicola has undergone numerous cosmetic procedures to boost her hefty chest to a 32G cup size and has revealed that they have caused her agonising back pain.
Despite this, she has revealed that she would go even bigger if she could, and told the Daily Star: “My back is terrible, I suffer so badly with my back because of the size of them but I love them.
“I would love them to be bigger because I just think it’s funny and I really love massive fake boobs.”
The blunt star added: “It is painful but it is worth it. I love them.”
What reality shows has Nicola been on?Nicola has appeared on a string of TV’s best known game and reality shows.
Game shows include: The Weakest Link, Richard & Judy and Test the Nation WAGs special.
In 2008, she featured in Channel 5 documentary Help! I’ve Got a High Maintenance Wife and has since appeared in WAGS’ World… With Nicola McLean on Wedding TV, and Channel 5’s Generation Sex.
In 2013, she was the host of Loaded TV’s Looser Women, a raunchier version of daytime chat show Loose Women, alongside Towie’s Chloe Sims and former BB Aisleyne Horgan-Wallace.

During her time on ITV’s jungle show, Nicola was seen frequently rowing with David Van Day.
She eventually came in sixth place in the competition after impressing viewers in the iconic jungle shower and can-do attitude.
Former Eastenders star Joe Swash took home the crown that year.
Celebrity Big Brother – 2012During her first appearance on CBB, Nicola famously got drunk and flirted with X Factor wild child Frankie Cocozza in the hot tub – despite being 12 years his senior.
She was also joined by controversial housemate Natasha Giggs, whose affair with Nicola’s football star brother-in-law Ryan had recently been exposed.
Nicola was evicted on day 21 in a double eviction with MC Romeo from So Solid Crew.
Denise Welch took home the win.

Nicola revealed she’d returned to the Elstree compound in a bid to host a late night Loose Women-style show with Katie Price.
However, she broke down in the diary room after just one day in the house and confessed to missing her children.
She was seen having a close companionship with Jamie O’Hara, who is good pals with her husband.
The feisty model also had several run-ins with late entrant Kim Woodburn – who took issue with Nicola immediately after she entered the house.
The vicious spats became so toxic that Nicola was forced to see a doctor – and even threatened to quit – after the fighting reignited her anxiety.
In the penultimate episode the tension between the pair reached fever pitch with Nicola calling Kim “vile” and “scum of the earth”.
Nicola also had constant arguments with Jedward – and was unable to tolerate their childish behaviour and claimed they made sly digs at her.
She got through to the finals, and came in fifth – while Coleen Nolan won the top prize.
What has Nicola McLean accused David Van Day of?Nicola McLean has accused David of improper sexual behaviour towards her on live TV in the I’m A Celebrity jungle – and says nobody batted an eye lid.
The former glamour model claims the veteran pop star horrified her with his sexual advances and it was all caught on camera.
The pair entered I’m A Celebrity together back in 2008 and immediately became arch-enemies as they clashed constantly throughout their time in the jungle.
The incident was filmed as part of a show challenge which showed them stripped to swimwear to wash a car – and the Dollar star was seen grabbing her and pressing his lips against hers.
He also smacked her bum and touched her tummy in the waterfall shower – and Nicola believes that he tried to take advantage of her because of her glamour modelling past.
The Sun Online has approached David for comment, but he did not respond.
