Mats Hummels celebrated Borussia Dortmund goal and Dortmund fans don’t know how to feel

It feels a bit like when you’re ex texts you saying they still like you.

You want to think it’s true but after the horrible break up you can’t let yourself.

This is exactly how a lot of Borussia Dortmund fans are feeling today after Mats Hummels latests tweets.

The former BVB leader and legend swapped the black and yellow for arch rival Bayern’s red in 2016 and it hurt a lot of the fans.

He had held out for so long after watching the team’s other stars like Mario Gotze and Robert Lewandowski move to the Allianz Arena but in the end the pull was too strong.

To be fair watching your flashy rivals win the league year after year cannot be much fun.

That used to be Hummels celebrating on Schmelzer’s shoulderAFP or licensors

But now he has thrown all sorts of equations into the air by celebrating Dortmund’s equaliser against Atalanta in the Europa League which sent them through to the last 16.

Long time team mate Marcel Schmelzer tapped in a scrappy goal in the 83rd minute to put BVB through.

And Bayern’s centre back couldn’t help but tell the world his emotions on social media.

A late goal for Marcel Schmelzer saw @BVB scrape through at Atalanta!

While it was a lovely hat tip to his former side, Dortmund Twitter was inevtiably completely split over how to take it.

Half of hoped it was an indication that he still loved the club and could come back, while the other half couldn’t forgive his treachery in moving to Munich.

It’s fair to say that is a mixed reaction to Hummels’ message.

The World Cup winner felt the full force of social media so much so he had to explain to everyone why he tweeted it and that it wasn’t a snakey move.

Gotta love the Internet where people try to tell you that you are not allowed to celebrate (with) someone you played for so many years ๐Ÿ˜‚ good night ๐Ÿ˜

But could you imagine Sergio Ramos tweeting something like that about Sergi Roberto? Or Wayne Rooney sending his love to Carlos Tevez once the Argentinian had switched to City.

No me neither.
