Italy nets stoppage time goal to beat United States

In his final match as U.S. soccer coach, Dave Sarachan gave Christian Pulisic the captain’s arm band for the first time and sent out the youngest lineup since the American team started keeping records.
Matteo Politano scored his first international goal in the fourth minute of second-half stoppage time, and Italy beat the United States 1-0 in an exhibition Tuesday night at Genk, Belgium, as Pulisic became the youngest captain since the American team’s records began in 1990.
Pulisic was the only holdover in the U.S. starting lineup from last Thursday’s 3-0 loss at England. At 20 years, 63 days, Pulisic bettered Landon Donovan, who was 22 years, 220 days when he first captained the Americans in a World Cup qualifier at El Salvador on Oct. 9, 2004, a match regular captain Claudio Reyna missed because of a quadriceps injury.
"It’s a huge honour. For the coaches, the staff, the team to trust me to be captain of the team, it means everything," Pulisic said. "I was never a captain in my life and now to be for the United States men’s national team, it’s an incredible honour. It doesn’t matter what age you are. I will never forget this moment."
Before last week, Pulisic had played just once for the U.S. since the October 2017 defeat at Trinidad and Tobago that ended the Americans’ streak of seven straight World Cup appearances. He missed some games because of minor injuries, others to concentrate on his club career with Borussia Dortmund in Germany.
Coach Bruce Arena quit after the loss in Trinidad and was replaced on an interim basis by Sarachan, his top assistant. As the U.S. Soccer Federation restructured under new president Carlos Cordeiro, Sarachan transitioned to a younger roster and guided the Americans to three wins, five losses and four ties in 12 exhibitions.
"Well, it was my last game. I haven’t been told that, but it’s evident there’s going to be a change in the very near future," Sarachan said. "To look back on the games that we played, the players that we’ve exposed to this level, that we brought forth, I’m certain it’s going to pay dividends down the line. So for me I feel as though when the next person comes in, they’re going to have a great starting point and that makes me feel good."
Pulisic was moved from wide midfield to forward in a 3-5-2 formation against Italy. The new coach will face the issue of where to deploy Pulisic, who usually is wide for Dortmund.
Romain Gall, a 23-year-old midfielder, replaced Pulisic in the 83rd minute and became the 23rd player to make his debut under Sarachan. New U.S. general manager Earnie Stewart has said a new coach will be hired later this year, and Columbus Crew coach Gregg Berhalter is the favourite. The new coach will take over for a January training camp followed by a pair of friendlies, and his first competitive matches will be next June at the CONCACAF Gold Cup.
"In a lot of ways with the interim role, it’s a difficult space to navigate, and I think he did it extremely well," midfielder Wil Trapp said of the 64-year-old Sarachan. "He could have mailed it in in a lot of ways but he didn’t do that one bit. He did all of us as a players a real service."
Nine of the 11 U.S. starters were 23 or younger, and the lineup’s average age of 22 years, 71 days was an American record low, besting the 22-160 against Bolivia on May 28.
Ethan Horvath, a 23-year-old goalkeeper on his home field for Club Brugge, made his third international appearance and first since last November at Portugal. He had five saves before the goal by Politano, a 25-year-old winger playing his second match for the Azzurri.
Politano passed to Marco Verratti about 25 yards above the penalty arc and sprinted through the penalty area. Roberto Gagliardini beat defender Aaron Long to Verratti’s feed into the area and poked the ball ahead to the onrushing Politano, who cut past Jorge Villafana, touched the ball from his left foot to his right and beat Horvath from 8 yards. The goal with about 25 seconds left capped a buildup that included a dozen passes.
"I’m kind of disappointed with the late goal, but on the other side I think I can be proud of how I performed tonight," said Horvath, who in the last month has gotten regular club playing time for the first stretch this season. "The past year has not been easy. And all I can do is believe in myself and believe what I’m doing each day is the correct thing."
Notes: The U.S. will play Costa Rica in an exhibition on Feb. 2 at Avaya Stadium in San Jose, California. … The U.S. finished with three wins, five losses and three draws in 2018, its fewest games in a year since going 1-2 in 1987, all that June at the President’s Cup in South Korea. The Americans have one win and three draws in 12 matches against Italy.

Alphonso Davies to train with Bayern Munich before Christmas

Even though Alphonso Davies doesn’t officially join Bayern Munich until January, he will be heading to Munich for an orientation of sorts before the end of the year.
Davies revealed that he will spend a few weeks training with Bayern leading up to Christmas. He will then return home to Edmonton for the holidays before heading back to Munich where he’ll hope to make his official debut with the club in 2019.
Davies is now eligible to train with Bayern as he turned 18 years old on Nov. 2.
The Canadian international became the most expensive outgoing transfer in MLS history after signing a contract with Bayern until 2023 back in July. He spent three seasons with the Vancouver Whitecaps, posting eight goals and 12 assists in 65 regular-season games.

Why are 90% of you ignoring the best midfielder in the Premier League?
You’re enjoying this break from Premier League football, aren’t you?
No, neither are we.
But while we’re taking a step back from the good stuff this week, we certainly don’t plan on neglecting our Dream Team, especially with the busy festive period coming up.

Reuters How many of Pep Guardiola’s players have made your fantasy football team?[/caption]
As we reach the middle of November, table-toppers Man City have certainly proven to be the team to beat, which means many of their players have been firm Dream Team favourites this season.
Top goalscorer Sergio Aguero is the most-picked player on the game right now, while over 25% of you have opted for their reliable shot-stopper Ederson.
There’s also been a lot of love for Raheem Sterling, John Stones and Kyle Walker.
Getty - Contributor Kyle Walker and John Stones have proved to be a popular pair[/caption]
But for some reason, their midfield wizard David Silva remains a little overlooked and under-picked at the moment, with only 10% of managers selecting the Spaniard.
That’s all the more strange considering he’s been particularly brilliant recently, picking up 26 points in his last three outings alone.
PA:Press Association Silva was at his very best against United last time out[/caption]
Netting seven goals in all competitions this season – including the opener in their win over Man United last weekend – Silva has proven once again to be City’s creative hub.
In fact, his in-game influence has been all the more important this term as Kevin De Bruyne remains out of the side through injury.
With KDB on the sidelines, we figured Silva – who is valued at £5.7m right now – would be the obvious choice as his fantasy football replacement.
But instead, we’ve seen the likes of Paul Pogba (17.9%), Willian (16.2%) and Bernardo Silva (11.7%) chosen ahead of him, despite Silva’s haul of 91 points being better than all three – and the fourth-best on the game overall.

We really do think it’s time to start seriously considering Silva for your midfield.
After all, City have already ticked off some of their big fixtures this season, including the away trip to Liverpool in October and the always tricky Manchester derby.
That means their next few fixtures are relatively favourable, including their trip to West Ham next week.
And with City’s great form showing no signs of letting up, it’s definitely time for thousands of you without Silva in your team to transfer the City midfielder in – before his price begins to rise.

Ryan Sessegnon explains the influence cage football had on his professional career
What are your earliest memories of playing football with your mates?
For some of us, those memories will involve kicking a ball around a concrete jungle until it went dark or someone’s window got smashed.
That’s certainly the case for Ryan Sessegnon, who revealed the influence cage football has had on his burgeoning professional career.

The 18-year-old versatile Fulham winger grew up in Roehampton, London, where he first started to kick a ball around.
Sessegnon, speaking to Ian Wright as part of Dream Team’s Wrighty Meets series, explained: “We’d play older kids from the block and the area.
“I was about 11 or 12 when I started, playing against bigger players. There was a football cage next to my house where we used to meet up and play all night.
“All night until we couldn’t really see. There was a street light outside but it was broken.

“We used to play 10v10s or 11v11s. We used to play World Cup where you’re by yourself and you have to score a certain number of goals to go through.
“I used to go to the cage with my brother Steven. Both of us would play one-touch and two-touch and ping the ball at each other.
“In my head I used to always think football is what I want to do as a career. But I never thought that four years later I would be playing a Championship game, making my debut for Fulham.”

Those hours of cage football certainly did the job, with both Ryan and Steven going on to sign professional terms before representing Fulham’s first-team.
It’s no surprise that England’s latest crop of youngsters, whether it be Jadon Sancho and Reiss Nelson out in Germany or Phil Foden and Sessegnon in England, all thrive in small spaces.
Cage football has been credited with playing a major role in the careers of Wilfried Zaha, arguably the Premier League’s best dribbler, and Chelsea’s Victor Moses.
So next time you’re in the cage playing Wembley Doubles, just remember that you’re in good company.

Victor Lindelof surprisingly named Swedish footballer of the year ahead of Andreas Granqvist
VICTOR LINDELOF was named Swedish footballer of the year for the first time last night, surprisingly pipping national team captain Andreas Granqvist to the award.
Lindelof, 24, played in four of Sweden’s five matches at this summer’s World Cup as his side reached the quarter-finals.

They were eventually knocked out by Gareth Southgate’s England but Lindelof impressed, keeping clean sheets in the wins of Mexico and Switzerland.
But the panel deciding on the ‘Guldbollen’ this year also cited his performances for club side Manchester United over the course of 2018.
He initially struggled at Old Trafford following his £31million move from Benfica in 2017 but has established himself as a first-team regular in recent weeks.
Lindelof and Chris Smalling have started the last six United games together and although they have not kept a clean sheet, the partnership is certainly strengthening.

JOSE MOURINHO faces the sack if he fails to make the Champions League.
Manchester United are ready to head in a different direction should they miss out on top-table European football.
United sit EIGHTH in the Premier League — a staggering 12 points behind rivals Manchester City after Sunday’s 3-1 derby defeat.
He has been left in no doubt that Champions League football next season is critical to his future.

But the defender was quick to thank his gorgeous wife Maja Nilsson for her support, especially after they got married just before the World Cup.
Upon receiving the award, he said: “It means very much for me to receive the price. I am extremely proud and grateful.
“I want to thank all team-mates in club and national teams, but also my family has always been there in wet and dry.
“I would also like to thank my beautiful wife, who is always there, helping me and supporting me.

“It means very much for me to stand here and you mean everything to me. Thank you for your help.”
It is the second year in a row that a defender has picked up the award after Granqvist’s success in 2017, ending a ten-year monopoly for legend Zlatan Ibrahimovic.
And many would have expected the fellow centre-back, 33, to take home the award again yesterday.
Not only did he captain Sweden to the last eight of the World Cup, their best finish for 24 years, but he also scored two crucial goals on the way.
He slotted home a penalty in the 1-0 win over South Korea and repeated the feat again as the Swedes saw off Mexico 3-0 to top Group F.

Raheem Sterling tripping over himself to win a penalty is the best thing we’ve seen all week
There’s awful penalty calls, and then there’s this.
Man City host Shakhtar Donetsk in the Champions League this evening, with Pep Guardiola’s boys aiming to top Group F with a win.
And considering their leading 2-0 at half-time, things are looking pretty good for them.
But their second goal will go down as one of the more controversial moments in Europe this season.
Reuters Steady on[/caption]
On the 24th minute, Raheem Sterling was racing into the opposition box when he managed to get his feet all in a muddle.
Tripping on the turf, the England winger fell to the floor in dramatic style, with Shakhtar right-back Mykola Matviyenko the closest man to him.
But it seems the referee thought Matviyenko somehow clipped Sterling, as he instantly awarded a penalty to City.
Take a look for yourself.
THAT IS A SHOCKER!
Raheem Sterling trips on the turf, unopposed and the referee awards a penalty kick. pic.twitter.com/vdCDsw8Qsf
— Football on BT Sport (@btsportfootball) November 7, 2018
Honestly, it’s one of the most ridiculous – but hilarious – refereeing calls we’ve seen for a while.
Even Shakhtar goalkeeper Andriy Pyatov saw the funny side, and could be seen laughing his head off at the decision.
When play resumed, Gabriel Jesus stepped up to take the spot-kick, sending Pyatov the wrong way to net his first goal since September. He looked mightily relieved.
We should add that Sterling certainly didn’t dive, as he simply kicked the turf when he meant to kick the ball.
An embarrassing moment, for both Sterling and the referee.

Juan Foyth’s Premier League debut was an absolute nightmare
Juan Foyth certainly won’t forget his Premier League debut in a hurry.
And neither will Spurs fans, after the young defender gave away TWO penalties in the second-half of their Saturday night clash against Wolves.
Goals from Erik Lamela, Lucas Moura and Harry Kane gave Mauricio Pochettino’s side a resounding 3-0 lead after 60 minutes.
But a late rally from the home side certainly did nothing for the nerves of your Spurs-supporting mates.

Sadly, the history books will not be kind on 20-year-old Foyth.
On his Premier League debut, the Argentinian looked more-or-less assured in defence alongside Toby Alderweireld.
But as Wolves chased the game in the final half an hour, his lack of experience was plain to see.
@JuanMFoyth makes his @premierleague debut tonight!
#COYS pic.twitter.com/2YGP8kQUJs
— Tottenham Hotspur (@SpursOfficial) November 3, 2018
On 68th minute, as Wolves looked to attack Spurs’ tiring back-line, Foyth clipped Raul Jimenez inside the penalty area after a defensive disaster from Kieran Trippier, who lost the ball when he tried to nutmeg Leo Bonatini (for reasons we don’t quite understand).
Ruben Neves stepped up to take the penalty – Wolves’ first spot-kick since their return to the top-flight – and slotted it home confidently past Hugo Lloris.
But then, only 10 minutes later, Foyth was at fault again, this time failing to deal with the pace of Jonny.
As the Spanish wing-back surged forward, Foyth clumsily grabbed hold of his back and pulled him to the floor.
Referee Mike Dean simply had no choice but to point to the spot once again and this time it was Jimenez who stepped up to fire home.
2 – Juan Foyth is the first player to concede two penalties in the same Premier League game since Phil Jagielka against Manchester City in October 2016. Clumsy.
— OptaJoe (@OptaJoe) November 3, 2018
Suddenly, with the score reduced to 3-2, the final few minutes were rather nervy for Pochettino’s side. But hopefully, he won’t be too hard on his young centre-back.
Considering his inexperience in the Premier League and the ruthlessness of Wolves’ attacking play in the second-half, we’re willing to give him the benefit of the doubt.
After all, in English football; you learn early and you learn hard.

Fortnite season 7: Absolutely everything you need to know about Season 7 – map updates, weapons, battle pass, skins and much more
Season 6 of Fortnite has just got underway.
With Loot Lake now on the move, it seems as though the Season is going to be full of action
Season 7 may seem a long way off but with it being October, Christmas (and the next season) are just around the corner.
We’ve pulled together everything you need to know about the game – from hints and tips to more general gameplay-related stuff and big announcements.
Treat this as your own personal Fortnite Season 7 ‘hub’ – we’ll be updating it daily, so you’ll always be in the know.
Let’s kick off with the basics.
When is Season 7 dropping?
The date for the end of Season 6 is currently set for December 5th 2018, meaning the next season of Fortnite will take place just prior to Christmas.
I think we can all guess what the theme might focus on.
Rumoured themes?
The theme of which, ‘Dark Rising’, is heavily inspired by Halloween and ominous creepy things that jump out of the dark.
This isn’t the first time that EPIC Games have opted to introduce seasonal aspects to Seasons within Fortnite.
This time last year Fortnite introduced the Skull Trooper and Ghoul Trooper skins as part of the seasonal Halloween theme.
They also adapted the RPG in-game to propel pumpkins instead of rockets.
When Christmas came around, they introduced new seasonal skins as well as Christmas trees dotted around the map.
What will the theme of Season 7 be?
Although we can’t say for certain, the theme will most likely be X-mas themed with a number of skins, map changes, and maybe even appearance from St. Nick himself…
The Map has, to this date, not been affected by snow.
However, we saw how, at the start of Season 5 a whole new biome could be added to the game, changing up gameplay dramatically.
EPIC games will need to do something big to top Season 6, as it’s already 10x more impressive than Season 5 ever was.
Season 7 of Fortnite will start in the first week of December
If there’s one thing we know about Epic Games, it’s that they LOVE a seasonal event
One thing we can almost guarantee to fans of Fortnite is that EPIC will be running Christmas themed event’s throughout the entirety of Season 7.
We can expect to see snow, skins and potentially the whole theme to be surrounding by X-mas magic.
The return of the snowball launcher
The iconic snowball launcher was a staple in Fortnite last Christmas season.
With the recent introduction of the chiller traps, it would be good to see some more weapons featured that perform ‘cold’ damage.
Rumours have even been circulating that a drastic change to the storm could occur.
Turning the, currently purple, storm blue creating a snowstorm that slows enemies when they got stuck in it.
The floating island has been travelling around the battle royale map since the start of Season 6.
After visiting all of the corrupted sites where Kevin the purple cube had previously visited, the floating island has finally returned to the POI formally known as Loot Lake, now Leaky Lake.

Now the island has seemingly completed its journey around the map it’s likely we will see another exciting event take place that could change the state of the map beyond just Season 6 and into Season 7.
A beam of purple light can now be seen shooting into the sky above Leaky Lake and the island, with the destination being increasingly overrun with more miniature manifestations of the purple cube.

With the rune markings having moved closer to Dusty Divot, fans have been speculating that the island might be expanding in order to fill the gap was left after a meteorite hit the famed location all the way back in Season 4.
Knowing Epic Games, however, they are much more keen to break stuff than to repair it.
Check out this concept trailer for the end of the world in Fortnite and the start of Season 7.
Gifting system in the Season of giving
A feature which has been eagerly requested for almost a year now is a gifting system.
Players are keen to gift their skins to friends in what could resemble an effective trading system.
It is possible that EPIC games could add this feature during Season 6, but would make more sense for it to be added at Christmas when they would be set to make more money.
Could a giant snake be living inside of Leaky Lake? It’s possible.
Anything is possible in the weird and wonderful world that is Fortnite’s battle royale.

We already know that Season 6 of Fortnite has to outdo not only its previous seasons but Call of Duty’s new Blackout mode, Red Dead Redemption 2 and Battlefield V’s battle royale mode (coming out in November).
A few savvy players have noted the appearance of a certain ‘set of eyes’ in Season 6‘s battle pass that could hint at the event that will take us into Season 7.
With Loot Lake being renamed Leaky Lake and a giant whirlpool appearing in the middle, players are speculating as to what could happen with the new location towards the end of the season.
One popular theory is that a giant snake will appear out of the hole and travel around the map following the bath of Loot Lake’s former house.
What do you think?
We have been waiting for more vehicles since the introduction of trolleys and ATKs into Fortnite.
The introduction of vehicles to the popular battle royale game has been widely seen as a good thing.
First trolleys in Season 4 and then ATK golf buggies in Season 5.
We can expect to see the addition of one or two new vehicles in Season 7 or sooner.
Here are the most likely contenders.
Snowmobile and skis
With the possibility of a snowy Season 7 on the horizon, we could be seeing the introduction of some sort of snowy vehicles into the game.
Skis would change up the gameplay completely as the Fortnite battle royale map is extremely hilly.
The golf carts or the Quadcrasher could also be converted to operate on the snow giving players a brand new vehicle to mess around with.
The Hoverboard
A few months back rumours and leaks showed that the hoverboard was 100% coming to Fortnite’s battle royale mode.
However, this turned out to be fake with the unique item being introduced into the ‘save the world’ mode instead.
It wouldn’t be too hard for Epic games to copy the code across and add the hoverboard into Fortnite Season 7.
It would most likely be featured similarly to the in-game jetpack item.

All aboard
Due to some players looking through the code in future patch notes they uncovered that there may be more water areas coming to the Fortnite map.
This has led players to believe that later in season 7 there could be a great flood taking over portions of the map, especially now that Loot Lake has been corrupted.

This could lead to new vehicles in the form of boats, and the opportunity for some more brilliant skins.
It has also been found that the skins from previous seasons often hint at what is coming next.
There were a load of water-themed skins released throughout Season 5, so it will be interesting to see if the theme continues throughout Season 6 and into Season 7.
Boats could come in all shapes and sizes so it will be interesting to see if this becomes a feature in Season 7.
Santa’s Sleigh
Although technically not a vehicle you will be able to control, the rumoured ‘Christmas’ theme for Season 7 has set tounges wagging about how exactly the map could be affected.
It would be great to see the Battle Bus being pulled along my Santa’s reindeer, or a reskin on the ATKs that will lend an x-massy feel to them.

The latest money grabbing scheme from Fortnite is here in the form of a physical bundle.
EPIC games have announced they will releasing a ‘Deep Freeze’ bundle to celebrate the upcoming holiday season.
Although this package will be coming out slightly prematurely on November 16th in the UK.
It’s no mistake that this bundle is coming out just prior to Season 7 and as a physical copy, it’s a great opportunity for parents to buy their Fortnite obsessed kids something physical from the popular battle royale game.
What’s included in the pack for £25?
Frostbite outfit/skin Cold Front glider Chill-Axe pickaxe Freezing Point back bling 1,000 V-BucksLike all exclusive items (except the galaxy skin) the bundle isn’t anything special to look at.
This coupled with the fact that it’s only a timed exclusive in retail stores makes the bundle look pretty pointless.
Nostalgia is a wonderful thing.
In gaming it is usually reserved for the classics you played as a kid on the PS1, Xbox 360, NES etc, however now there’s a game called Fortnite.
EPIC games deliver such consistent updates to the game, that it is consistently changing, the map, building, guns, environment, movement and more have changed to the point where Fortnite is an entirely new game every season.
For a few months this time last year everyone was a noob at Fortnite, no one was building, everybody was a no-skin and people simply enjoyed the game.
There have been rumours floating about that EPIC may be introducing a limited time mode to take players back to the original 2017 version of Fortnite for a long time now.
It could finally be happening in Season 7.
The map has changed so much (and will continue to change) since Season 1 that it’s the perfect time to bring the classic back.
It could also bring a number of old school players back to the game who may have taken a hiatus to play different games.
Would you like to see the return of classic Fortnite?
Kevin the cube first popped up in (the rather dull) Season 5 of Fortnite.
Since then he has transformed Loot Lake into Leaky Lake, travelled around the map TWICE and split up a whole island into several floating parts that are messing with gravity, physics and the very laws of Fortnite nature!
Recently, cracks started to appear on the cube and have been growing every day.
The new Fortnitemares may be pushing the cube to its limit, ultimately causing it to explode and change the map drastically.
This theory has been floating about ever since the cube first appeared.
Now, however, there is some evidence to support this assumption.
It is likely that, come the end of Halloween, the zombies will all disappear and the cube will explode cause the next big event that will lead to the start of Fortnite Season 7.
What do you think?

What is Fortnite?
In September 2017, a new standalone mode called Battle Royale was launched – which brought the game into direct competition with PUBG – another battle royal-style shooter.
Then on March 12th 2018, Epic released the IOS version of Fortnite.
Each game sees 100 players plonked on to a map with no weapons or armour – you need to scavenge and explore to find these.
Similar to PUBG there is a ‘closing in’ mechanic – which sees the game area get smaller and smaller.
Venture outside the safe zone (a ‘storm’ in Fortnite’s case) and you’ll lose health rapidly, before being eliminated.
Fortnite can be played solo or with friends on mobile, Xbox, Switch, PS4 and PC.
Word to the uninitiated – if you’re playing solo, do not try to team up – you’ll get killed.
How much does Fortnite cost?
It’s free – unless you’re mad about cosmetics (which some people clearly are).

What games systems is Fortnite currently on?
It’s on Xbox, PC, PS4 and Nintendo Switch and IOS.
When is the game coming to Android?
With 1000’s of people already playing Fortnite on IOS, there is a huge demand for the game to come over to Android.
Epic games are currently working to release the game in China where the majority of people use Androids.
The release date is rumoured to be 24th July so keep your eyes peeled.
Season 5 map
The addition of golf kart’s to the map was perhaps the biggest gameplay development this season.
Allowing you to travel faster and race your friends on the new track that rivals Monaco’s.
Portals are also dotted around the map which allow you to re-drop from the sky, giving you more time to loot and still get away from the storm.
There are no other maps (yet), which will frustrate some, but developers Epic continue to add to their existing map with locations such as Paradise Palms and Lazy Links.

Where’s the worst place to land on Fortnite?
It all depends on your ability. Tilted Towers can be the best place if you’re experienced or worst place if you’re a noob.
It’s usually teeming with loot and powerful weapons – but most decent players will swarm on it pretty sharpish.
